During your stay you will be treated to two game drives held daily on our Big 5 game reserve. The game drives are led by our experienced rangers and will leave you in awe of the diverse vegetation and spectacular scenery that abounds on the reserve.
The first drive leaves early in the morning to allow guests to see animals in the morning light, out feeding on dew covered grass. Our rangers will treat you to a cup of hot coffee, tea and South African rusks while you stretch your legs and take in the scenery.
After the heat of the day has passed, guests are taken out to enjoy the reserve in the afternoon and early evening. The game and landscape surrounds take on a new characteristic in the evening light where you will enjoy a sundowner picnic while reflecting on the day’s sightings and activities before making your way back to the lodge for a glass of wine and warm dinner.
Amakhala is proud to introduce a new cheetah to the Carnavon Dale section of the reserve. This sanctuary provides amazing cheetah viewing experiences for our guests as the vast plains catch every ray of South Africa’s sunlight. For the time being, cheetah viewing on foot will not be an option, yet, after some time we will re-introduce walking safaris where guests can experience guided walking safaris which can be tailored to suit our guests capabilities.
Horse lovers, from novice to experienced, looking for an unforgettable riding experience can saddle up for a ride on the non-dangerous game section with Amakhala Horse Trails. Horse trails are not included in the standard activities package but may be booked together with your accommodation.
